Dog Lake via Butler Fork

Length: 5.3 miles. Elevation Gain: 1811 Feet. Date Hiked: June 5, 2021

The above picture is the only time I have actually seen Dog Lake look somewhat clear. Usually, it looks like a mud puddle. This was a pleasant surprise. Four out of five trees. It was a nice hike. I am not in ideal hiking shape so I couldn't give it a five tree rating. 

We arrived at our hiking trailhead in the late afternoon. From the trailhead, we had never gone straight up to the lake. But, there's a first time for everything. So, instead of our usual loop, we hiked straight up to the lake. Leti motored right along. I huffed and puffed all the way up. 

The canyon was super pretty here.

This was a very pleasant hike. It was a quick five miles, but I had been needing a little time in the mountains. Everything was green and beautiful still. I am hoping this is a vision of things to come. The drought is quite serious, but I hope and pray for rain! It was another beautiful day in the mountains!

Static Peak, Paintbrush trail, and Table Rocks. All in one swell trip.

 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 Length: 16.8 miles. Elevation Gain: 5,423 feet. Date hiked: July 22, 2021 This hike gets a five tree out of five tree rating for many reasons. It was stunningly beautiful. It wasn't too steep. The views were so vast! The weather was perfect. Everything lined up just great.  We started this hike around 7:30. The first few miles up to the patrol cabin, a cabin on the historic cabin registry, were in a beautiful canyon with a nice little river meandering down to Phelps Lake. It was lovely. The trail was really nice. Not too rocky and not too steep.  Leti on the way up the canyon. I like the little patch of snow that is just hanging on. This is the nice river that cascades down the canyon. How pleasant!  At the patrol cabin, we got ourselves some filtered water and began ascending Death Canyon. Isn't that a nice name?! Mount Baldy and Sugarloaf Peak Loop

Date hiked: Aug. 13, 2022 This hike seemed somewhat doomed from the start. But, in the end, it turned out to be a lovely hike. First, we hiked up a road. That's just bad. Hiking up something you can drive up is no bueno. Second, we heard what we thought was an avalanche control boom, which made exactly zero sense. No snow. We learned later that it was a meteor entering planet Earth. And, it was heard all over the Salt Lake Valley. Third, the helicopter about made us crazy. At first, said helicopter looked so cool. And then, said helicopter kept going up and down the mountain. They aren't exactly known for their silence. Said helicopter was carrying steel posts (or metal somethings) for the skiing season.
