ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ² Length: 16.8 miles. Elevation Gain: 5,423 feet. Date hiked: July 22, 2021 This hike gets a five tree out of five tree rating for many reasons. It was stunningly beautiful. It wasn't too steep. The views were so vast! The weather was perfect. Everything lined up just great.  We started this hike around 7:30. The first few miles up to the patrol cabin, a cabin on the historic cabin registry, were in a beautiful canyon with a nice little river meandering down to Phelps Lake. It was lovely. The trail was really nice. Not too rocky and not too steep.  Leti on the way up the canyon. I like the little patch of snow that is just hanging on. This is the nice river that cascades down the canyon. How pleasant!  At the patrol cabin, we got ourselves some filtered water and began ascending Death Canyon. Isn't that a nice name?! It wasn't deadly. As we began the ascent, two hikers were coming down from the peak. They started at 4 a.m. (This is not fun.) At 6 a.m. they saw an

ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ²ðŸŒ² Length: no idea. Elevation gain: no idea. Date hiked: July 12, 2021 Once a year, Lisa, Kassie, me, and willing Wright children attempt to go on a hike. It's a great tradition! This year, after asking the locals, Lisa found a great hike. I have searched the interweb for information on this hike. There is none. You have to be local to know about it! We didn't get to the end of the hike, but we enjoyed our time wandering through the woods and chatting.  Jordyn, Tylee, Ivy, Claire, Annika, and Kassie.  The beginning of the hike! Lisa is in this picture, taking it actually. This was a great little hike. First, kudos to Lisa to get us to the trailhead. The road was downright sketchy! We started up the trail as very happy people. Jordyn was in her carrier. All had energy. It was lovely! I gave this hike four out of five trees. The hike was perfect. The road was sketchy. So, four trees.  As we hiked we forged streams. Okay, that was dramatic. We walked across streams on the r

Day 1  ðŸŒ³ðŸŒ³ðŸŒ³ðŸŒ³ Miller’s Lake, Upper Sweeney Lake, Photographer’s Point Loop. 11.5 miles. 1407 ft elevation gain. Date hiked: July 5, 2021 Basically, up until a few months ago, I had never heard of the Wind Rivers. What a hidden gem! Letizia and I were one of the few day hikers on the trails. Most people backpack. As you can see from the above picture, the Wind Rivers are vast and so beautiful. We are fans! And, if you want to get into the real beauty, you have to be willing to put in several miles. This fact we learned rather quickly. I gave this four trees out of five. It was beautiful, but the mosquitoes and downed trees were less fun.  Our first hike of the day was quite beautiful and seemingly flat. In theory, it had 1400 feet of elevation gain. I think there was that one spot that was steep, but for the most part this felt like a completely flat hike. As we hiked along, we noticed that the trail had been cleared of lots of trees. Apparently, recently, there was a violent wind sto
