For years, Letizia and I have been going to various and sundry parts of the world to hike. We were supposed to hike Kings Canyon for our most recent vacation, but the park was mainly closed because of the KNP Complex Fires. So, we (and by "we" I mean Letizia) altered our plans, and we headed to Yosemite instead. It was a great decision as far as hiking was concerned. As far as fine dining and strong internet, it wasn't our best choice, but nobody goes to Yosemite for those things anyway. During our stay, we hiked many, many, many miles.  When 2021 started, I had visions of the pandemic ending, life getting back to normal, and new hiking destinations. It is now September 2021. The pandemic is still raging. Life is not back to normal. And, instead of new hiking destinations, Leti and I tried out tried and true hiking destinations with new hiking buddies. This proved to be a great idea. :) Before starting this blog, please note that a majority of the pictures are from Rob. Letizia donated pictures as well. And, I took two.  🥾🥾🥾🥾 Alaska Basin Trail. Length: 15 miles. Elevation Gain: 3,100 feet. Date Hiked: September 2, 2021 The Alaska Basin Trail is a lollipop trail. I gave it four boots out of five boots because it was a tad smokey and the trail at the end was a little too long for my liking. The trail, however, was really beautiful especially after we (Leti, Rob, and I) ascended the staircase. The views of the Tetons and Table Rock were practically perfect.  🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 Length: 16.8 miles. Elevation Gain: 5,423 feet. Date hiked: July 22, 2021 This hike gets a five tree out of five tree rating for many reasons. It was stunningly beautiful. It wasn't too steep. The views were so vast! The weather was perfect. Everything lined up just great.  We started this hike around 7:30. The first few miles up to the patrol cabin, a cabin on the historic cabin registry, were in a beautiful canyon with a nice little river meandering down to Phelps Lake. It was lovely. The trail was really nice. Not too rocky and not too steep.  Leti on the way up the canyon. I like the little patch of snow that is just hanging on. This is the nice river that cascades down the canyon. How pleasant!  At the patrol cabin, we got ourselves some filtered water and began ascending Death Canyon. Isn't that a nice name?!
